Pictures of a new Motorola slider phone have surfaced.  The phone, reportedly named the ZN5, sports a monster Kodak-branded 5 megapixel camera.  However, in a forehead slapping moment, the camera does not have autofocus.

Other specs include the phone’s ability to run on quad-band, however the data speeds are limited to EDGE (again, come on Motorola!).  The ZN5 runs on the MOTOMAGX platform, which is Linux-based.  The phone also has Bluetooth built in, along with 100MB of internal space plus a MicroSD slot.  The touch wheel used for navigation also doubles as a 5-way directional pad.

BBC: ‘$100 Laptop’ Embraces Windows XP

Dealzmodo: Callpod Chargepod Universal Charger Down to $39.95 [Deals]

Saturday 31 May 2008 @ 7:05 pm

One of our favorite multi-tipped chargers, the Chargepod, has just gotten a $10 discount down to $39.95 for the base. We’re not going to be d-bags and say that our recommendation in the review last year for them to drop the price down to $39 had anything to do with it, because our egos aren’t that gigantic. Their bundle pack with six adapters, chargers, and some various other stuff (carrying case) is $79, but that’s a pretty small price to pay to keep your charging station organized and compact. Can Computer Know What You’re Thinking?

Saturday 31 May 2008 @ 7:05 pm
A computer model has been developed that can predict what word you are thinking of. The model may help to resolve questions about how the brain processes words and language, and might even lead to techniques for decoding people’s thoughts. Researchers led by Tom Mitchell of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ‘trained’ a computer model to recognize the patterns of brain activity associated with 60 images, each of which represented a different noun.
