Yesterday we told you that AT&T would be performing credit checks with the purchase of an iPhone to warn those with bad credit. What we didn’t know at the time, however, is that these credit checks weren’t to penalize potential iPhone buyers with bad credit, but to draw in their business.
Because to those with BAD CREDIT, WORSE CREDIT, OR NO CREDIT AT ALL!!! AT&T was offering buyers a slightly more expensive month-by-month payment plan with no strings on cancellation. To activate the iPhone, AT&T provided these customers with a special code to enter during iTunes setup, bypassing the standard subscription selection. Such customers didn’t receive any subsidizing on their expensive iPhone purchase, but as AT&T was quoted, “That’s Visa’s problem.” OK, that quote may be completely made up.

Here it is, the Sizemodo you’ve been waiting six months to see. The iPhone vs. other music devices (iPod, Zune) and smartphones (AT&T 8525, Helio Ocean, Sprint Mogul). Which one’s the smallest and thinnest, and which one looks dirtier after months of use? Which do you think?

Well hello there Mr. HTC Bluetooth headset, how nice to meet you. Courtesy of the FCC, the (surprisingly glamorously photographed) 15-gram BH M200 slug is unveiled as a followup to their M100 headset and brings along a Bluetooth 2.0 radio with up to 8 hours typical talk time or 360 hours of standby thanks to a Lithium Polymer 2 hour rechargeable. It also packs a sporty lanyard to keep the nerd factor low between calls. No idea when or even if this will land Stateside but it sure looks promising now. Lanyard illustration after the break.
[Thanks, Aaron R.]

As several tipsters have pointed out, the recessed iPhone headphone port means that a lot of third party headphones don’t work properly: we’ve tested a few models already (you can see the current list after the break), but maybe you can help us out and let us know which models work / don’t work in the comments — and yes, if you have to press down on the jack to get both channels to play sound, we count that as not working. You’ll need to buy a $10 headphone adapter if you want most third party headphones to function correctly, which sounds like a great business plan to us: just break an important device function, and sell the solution for fun and profit. For now, one of the few third party ‘phones that do work are the Zune headphones.

Oh, Toshiba. Usually we wouldn’t react too kindly to jumping in the game nearly half a year late, but considering just how rare these 4GB microSDHC cards still seem to be, we’ll give you a pass on this one. Sure enough, Tosh is finally ready to unleash its wee 4GB microSDHC card on the world, and besides guaranteeing sustained write rates of up to 4Mbps, it also promises write speeds of nearly 6Mbps. No word on pricing details as of now, but considering that these should be hitting (a few) shelves come next month, you won’t be waiting too much longer in tense anticipation.
